Organisation of EMEUNET

EMEUNET offers various levels of participation:

EMEUNET MEMBERS AND THE COMMUNITY

This is the fundamental basis of EMEUNET – the development of a pan-European, now world-wide, network of young rheumatologists and rheumatology researchers. Membership of EMEUNET provides access to regular newsletters, opportunities and activities geared towards young rheumatologists and rheumatology researchers. Membership is limited to people below 40 years and can be acquired with a free registration.

COUNTRY LIAISONS

An EMEUNET Member for each country, who is responsible for the dissemination of all EMEUNET -related information to his/her country. This is usually a 1-year position which should not be renewed for more than 3 years.

EMEUNET WORKING GROUP

This group undertakes the organisational role to facilitate the wider aims of EMEUNET and represent the EMEUNET Community. The group consistsof 54 members from 16 countries (as of 2019-2020) and a rotation of around one third of the group is ensured each year, with an application process for the selection of new working group members from the wider EMEUNET community.

EMEUNET SUBGROUPS AND SUBGROUPS LEADERS

Most of the work within the EMEUNET Working Group takes place in subgroups, each focusing on a particular aspect of the organisation. Current subgroups include: Social Media, Education, Country Liaisons, Newsletter, Peer Mentoring and Visibility&Global Affairs. Each subgroup has one or more leader(s) who are selected from working group members by the steering committee.

EMEUNET STEERING COMMITTEE

The steering committee includes 3 members: the past Chair, Current Chair and Chair elect. The Chair has a mandate of one year and the participation in the steering committee lasts for 3 years. Since 2018, the selection of the Chair elect follows a competitive application process open to subgroup leaders and scored by the current Steering Committee members, current subgroup leaders not applying, and Past-Chairs, leading to the appointment of the Chair Elect by the current steering committee.
